Ask any woman what she fears the most and you’ll be amazed at the number of females who will tell you that aging is a very scary thing. In fact, even the thought of being old and gray and wrinkly can make a lot of women cringe.
Most women dread the thought of having visible lines, aging spots and sagging skin. Hence, it’s not a wonder that they make all the effort in staying young and beautiful for as long as possible.
Do you want to keep the signs of aging away, too? Well, here are some dos and don’ts in the fight against skin aging:
- Exercise whenever you can.
Or do any physical activity that will keep you moving for a good amount of time. You may be using every anti-aging product in the market, but you may also be neglecting your body. Yes, there are lots of wrinkle reduction formulas that are actually effective. However, it also pays if you look after your physique. Exercise can improve your blood flow and remove toxins in your body, helping your system flush out anything that can cause skin impurities. Keep in mind that being completely healthy radiates from within, making your skin look glowing and supple.
Ideally, a 30-minute walk every day is enough to make you burn calories.
- Eat a balanced diet.
Junk food, fatty food and oily food are indulgences that can do more harm than good. The unhealthy and unnatural ingredients – saturated fat, sugar and high glycaemic carbohydrates – included in certain foods cause inflammation and water retention, which can eventually speed up ski aging, among many other health problems.
Avoid white bread, rice, French fries and sodas at all costs. Not only do they cause or worsen acne, but they can also affect the elasticity of the collagen in your skin.
- Clean up well
After a long day outside, your face might feel like it weighs a ton with all the dust, dirt and makeup. Be sure to use a recommended facial cleanser to eliminate any particles that can cause skin problems. Also, use the right moisturising formula to prevent your skin from drying.
- Go out between 11AM and 3PM without Sunscreen.
You’ll expose your skin to harmful UVA/UVB rays if you go out between those times, as the sun is the hottest at that point. This, in the long run, can dry out your skin and cause fine lines on your face.
If you’re out and about, be sure to cover up. Use SPF, bring an umbrella and water for rehydration.
- Use every skin-aging product in the market.
It pays to know exactly what you are getting yourself into. So be sure to read up on the latest anti-wrinkle formula before you use them to know if they have any harmful ingredient.
- Worry too much.
When you wallow too much even at the most trivial of things, fine lines can begin to show up on your face. If you are stressed, you tend to not eat and sleep well, causing all the more damage to your skin.
So learn to relax. Breathe. Take things one step a time. You owe it to yourself.
